Recent Progress in Comprehensive Models for Aircraft Flight

This contribution reports recent progress in multi-disciplinary simulation of transport aircraft powered by turbofan engines. The paper discusses general requirements for aircraft flight performance simulation, including the need for accuracy. The framework of the computer code FLIGHT is discussed. The interface and connection between the various sub-disciplines is illustrated in graphic form. Examples of simulation results are presented; these include aerodynamic performance, turbofan engine charts, flight trajectories and noise trajectories. The cases present demonstrate the versatility of the code and the variety of flight simulations that can be carried out.
